Artists face different challenges with regard to the social safety net than do employees in permanent positions who are required to pay into it. Phases without work can pose hurdles when it comes to planning for retirement and maintaining health and nursing-home insurance. In particular, actors and actresses who are not eligible for compulsory insurance through the Artists’ Social Insurance Fund are typically treated as temporary employees. The Ilse Kubaschewski Stiftung (IKS) supports artists in need. This panel discussion aims to play a part in identifying and discussing the practical needs of people in these professions and to raise awareness of the IKS and its services.
