In a FilmTalk to launch this year’s retrospective, titled “Why Can’t We Live Together?”, Heleen Gerritsen (artistic director of the Deutsche Kinemathek) and Daisy von Scherler Mayer (director of PARTY GIRL) discuss the vibrant house-party culture and optimism of the 1990s — and why the aesthetics of that decade are making such a strong comeback today. The discussion will also focus on the creative interplay between music videos, movies, and television; personal memories from the making of PARTY GIRL, starring Parker Posey; and ways that the independent film and music video industries have changed.
